With the development a new terminal, EBEA Consulting and LATAM LOGISTICS were asked to study the access network to the new terminal. The objective of the simulation was to study different configurations of the access network at different time horizons. In this way, bottlenecks could be identified and the optimal configuration could be selected. As part of the project, a fast-time simulation model of the access network was developed. The outputs of the model included road system throughputs and delays driven by interactions with other vehicles and passengers (crosswalks and drop-off / pick-up areas).

The consulting services provided for the simulation included:

• Validation of the proposed landside access design and expected vehicle throughputs
• Identification of system bottlenecks and breaking points
• Development of a 3D video showcasing the performance of the road system
• Testing of different scenarios (demand/infrastructure) to ensure robustness of the design
• Compliance with ACRP Report 40 guidelines
