The client tasked EBEA Consulting and LATAM LOGISTICS with assessing the current runway and taxiway capacity. The main objective of the project was to identify growth opportunities within the current infrastructure. The scope of work focused on validating the achievable runway capacities based on various operating models and airspace separations. For this reason, a comprehensive airside system review of the airport was performed by means of a simulation.

The consulting services provided for the simulation included:

• Model Creation: Development of a fast-time simulation model reflecting the actual layouts of the airfield, demand and operational procedures.
• Capacity Identification: Identification of maximum and sustained runway capacities across scenarios using a range of different aircraft approach separations.
• Delay Assessment: Assessment of runway delays with various demand levels.
• Test of Different Scenarios: Scenario testing assuming different airport approach strategies, including several aircraft separations and approach speeds.
